Description
The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) half-track was a World War II German armored fighting vehicle designed by the Hanomag company, based on its earlier, unarmored Sd.Kfz. 11 vehicle. The Sd.Kfz. 251 was designed to transport the Panzergrenadier (German mechanized infantry) into battle. Sd.Kfz. 251s were the most widely produced German half-tracks of the war, with at least 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers. Some sources state that the Sd.Kfz. 251 was commonly referred to simply as “Hanomags” but German officers referred to them as SPW (Schützenpanzerwagen, or armored infantry vehicle) in their daily orders and memoirs.
This is our replica SdKfz 251/1 Ausf D half track. It is a post war variant of the iconic WW2 half track which has been reverse engineered to look like it’s wartime counterpart.
These half track came in many variants. Ours is the standard troop carrying type 1. Capable of transporting 10 Panzer Grenadiers plus all of their campaign equipment. The half track is fitted with an MG34 in the front armoured screen and also has an MG 42 on the rear anti aircraft mount.
This example is in full working order and can be supplied with fully operational guns. Weighing in at 7.5 tons, it is a big but of kit which truly enhances any film set.
